Attending EDSA was a wonderful opportunity for me to gain new and different extensive knowledge about research methodology. I also experienced other cultures as the participants and Professors were from many different countries. All of the professors, as well as the leadership of EDSA and other participants, were lovely, warm and friendly; I felt respect, was given attention and forged new friendships. In short, the experience was great and I would recommend highly EDSA to others. Shirin Ranjbar (Doctoral Researcher) The University of Tehran, Iran
It was a pleasure to contribute to the inaugural Eurasian Doctoral Summer Academy, held at Varna University of Management. Through Cameron Batmanghlich’s leadership, the guidance of a distinguished panel of professors, and the warm hospitality of the hosting institution, EDSA provided doctoral students from a wide range of universities across the region a unique opportunity to be exposed to intellectual insights and practical techniques that will enrich their academic journeys. That the workshop highlighted sessions on scholarly publishing (for which I was invited to speak) reinforced the connections between research and publication, in general, and specifically Springer Nature’s commitment to supporting researchers throughout the process of developing and disseminating their ideas. I hope that the bonds forged among the EDSA participants will result in many fruitful collaborations.”
EDSA as a thought provoking weeklong conference added value to the ontological and epistemological positioning of the doctoral student. The engagement with students and professors drawn from Eastern and Western universities enabled the focusing of a variety of research lenses in a relaxed and friendly environment. Sheffield Hallam University doctoral students will be back to EDSA which challenged the orthodoxy and broadened the mind
